A YouTube lesson
Paste the link, up to 45 minutes — or 30 if the video has no captions, since we have to listen to it ourselves. Useful for the video you were going to set anyway, and for CPD sessions you want notes from without rewatching.
A recording
Upload one you already have - mp3, wav, m4a, aac or ogg, up to 90 minutes - or record straight from the browser, up to 20 minutes. For a longer lesson, record it on your phone and upload the file.

The note is yours to change. Every note has a chat grounded in that note's own material, so you can ask what a section meant rather than scrubbing back through the source.

The source stays with the note
Every note keeps a link back to the material it came from, and a PDF keeps the document itself in a tab beside the note. That matters more here than anywhere else in Teachit Studio: a note is a reading of your source, and you should be able to check it against the source without leaving the page.

- What can I upload?
- PDFs, YouTube links, and audio recordings in mp3, wav, m4a, aac or ogg. Files need to be under 50MB. The length caps differ by source: an uploaded audio file can run to 90 minutes, a YouTube video to 45, and a lesson recorded here in the browser to 20. More formats are on the way.
- Do I get flashcards and a quiz automatically?
- No. Transcribing gives you the study note and its summary. A quiz and a flashcard deck are a separate step you take from the finished note, whenever you want them - and only the part that is missing costs a generation.
- Can I still see the file I uploaded?
- Yes. A PDF note keeps a PDF tab alongside the study note, so the original document is always one click away.
- How much should I check before I use it?
- A read-through is usually all it needs. Studio writes with AI, and AI can make mistakes, so look the note over before you teach from it - the source stays beside it, so anything you want to confirm is a click away.
- Can I get the note as a Word document?
- Yes - alongside the PDF there is a Word (.docx) export, currently in beta. For a transcribed note it carries the study note itself; the quiz and flashcard parts stay PDF-only.
- Do I need to be on a paid plan?
- No. Every account gets 2 free generations, and you can spend them on transcribing or on generating a resource from scratch.
